Note on Terminology

The terminology of Broadcasting varies around the World. These self-test questions use standard BBC terminology. Also, unless otherwise stated, the assumed standard is 625/50, 4:3.

Note for Microsoft Internet Explorer users

These tests use JavaScript. Recent versions of Internet Explorer disable JavaScript by default. If you cannot see a test on this page, you will have to enable JavaScript. The test will then appear. Alternatively, you might consider changing your browser, e.g. to Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome.

Instructions (all tests)

1. There are 10 questions, each worth 10 points. Maximum score, 100.
2. Click the red button by the best answer to each question.
3. Do not guess, since wrong answers lose 5 points.
4. You can change your mind as often as you like.
5. When finished, click the "Click When Finished Button" at the end of the test. Your score will appear and all the correct answers will turn green, so you can check where you lost points.
6. To run the same test again, reload the page.
